Hartl Powercrusher Crowned Provincial Champion in country wide “Austria’s Leading Companies 2007” Competition.

It was a spectacular gala event in Linz on the 8th of October – presentation of this years “Austria’s Leading Companies 2007” awards. And Hartl Anlagenbau GmbH has something to celebrate.

The competition is already in it’s 9th year and attracted some 3.000 entries over the years. It is organized by Price Water House Coopers as well as credit agency KSV 1870. “This year saw 450 companies enter – this is a record entry amount and shows that Austrian companies are expanding and becoming more successful”, said financial timer editor Peter Muzik in his speech.

And Hartl Anlagenbau has proved to be extremely successful. The dynamic company that produces heavy machinery was crowned winner in the category mid-sized companies (10 – 50 Million Euro annual turnover). The judging of companies looks at the last three years in respect of turnover, general business practices, capital as well as general company policies.

These figures seem to be working well for the family run enterprise owned and run by brothers Domink and Alexander Hartl and Stefan Hartl. This years turnover is expected to increase by 50% to over 60 million Euro. “A booming economy in Eastern Europe, where infrastructure improvements are required, helped our bottom line. A lot also rests on the fact that the East-EU-Countries are now getting to be and trying to stay on a level that Western Europe has been accustomed to for years. Recycling and on-site operations are becoming the norm. This is in line with environmental trends and we build the machines to accomplish this,” explained Dominik Hartl.

In the export market, the Mauthausen based company definitely belongs to the “big players”. 96 percent of the Powercrusher product range are exported world wide. Because of this booming industry, Hartl are in the process of erecting a production assembly facility in the St. Valentin area. The official ground breaking ceremony took place a few weeks ago and was the beginning of the planned 12.000 m2 building, which will be able to produce roughly 350 machines per year. The assembly facility will provide 140 qualified individuals with jobs, of which 30 have already been hired in the first quarter of 2007. “The expansion of our workforce and the building up of the Powerteam is a great accomplishment. This award can be accredited to each and every Hartl employee who are all very excited about our expansion,” said Alexander Hartl.

Finding qualified people for the expansion process is not as simple as it sounds – Hartl took this problem to heart and in the beginning of 2007 started a training production facility in Enns. It is here that the future Powercrusher-experts are trained and prepared for the St. Valentin plant. Hartl also host special apprentice days – this allows young apprentices to join the Hartl team and also become Austria´s future mechanical experts.

The managers of Hartl were all very happy to accept the award and saw it as a clear recognition that the company is positioned well in relation to its competitors. They are also extremely proud to be part of “Austria’s Leading Companies”.
